A popular restaurant in Chennai was sealed by Food Safety Department officials after an inspection revealed the use of stale ingredients and poor hygiene standards.
Following multiple complaints from customers about food poisoning and unusual taste in meals, officials conducted a surprise raid at the eatery in T. Nagar. Upon inspection, they discovered expired food items, improperly stored ingredients, and unhygienic cooking conditions.
“The restaurant was found violating several food safety regulations. We discovered stale food being served to customers, which poses serious health risks. As a precautionary measure, we have sealed the premises and issued a notice to the owners,” said an official from the Food Safety Department.
Several customers who recently dined at the establishment reported falling sick afterward. “I felt uneasy after eating there last week, but I didn’t expect this. It’s alarming to know that they were serving spoiled food,” said a local resident.
Authorities have urged other restaurants and food businesses to maintain hygiene and follow safety guidelines strictly. Legal proceedings against the restaurant are expected, and further investigations are underway.

The Food Safety Department has also encouraged citizens to report any suspected violations to ensure public health and food quality standards are upheld.
