Hina Khan Opens Up About Rocky Jaiswal’s Unwavering Support During Cancer Battle

Hina Khan opened up about her partner Rocky Jaiswal’s unwavering support during her cancer battle in the latest episode of Celebrity MasterChef India. Khan, who is fighting breast cancer, shared that Jaiswal never cries in front of her.

“As far as my journey goes, the world just knows that I got the C-word. Nobody knows more than that. After that, from time to time, in 2-3 months, we got to know a lot of things about me, my health, about my body. I have scars. I have been treated surgically. A lot has happened,” Khan said.

“He is the one who soothes those scars. He looks at them more closely than I do. He asks me, ‘How is it today? Is it any better?’ It’s hard for me to look at myself, but he does—instantly. He goes to the bathroom, cries, and comes back. He doesn’t even cry in front of me. He has started loving me even more than he did before,” Khan shared, adding, “May each and every girl in this universe get a partner like him.”

Jaiswal lauded Khan’s strength, saying, “I don’t think I have met a braver soul than her.”

The Importance of Partner Support During Illness

Being diagnosed with a serious condition can be emotionally overwhelming not only for the patient but also for their loved ones, especially immediate caregivers.

“The fear of their well-being and the desire to support them while managing your own emotions can be overwhelming,” said Dr. Santosh Bangar, senior consultant psychiatrist, Gleneagles Hospitals Parel, Mumbai.

According to him, empathy and honest communication are crucial at this juncture.

“Let your partner know they don’t have to shield you from the reality of their condition—you are in this together. Open conversations, even about difficult topics, can help reduce stress and anxiety,” Dr. Bangar said.

Studies have shown that emotional and physical support from a loved one can significantly improve a patient’s mental well-being. According to a report by the American Cancer Society, patients with strong social and emotional support tend to cope better with their treatment and recovery process.

How to Be a Supportive Partner

  1. Encourage Open Communication – Let your partner express their fears and emotions without judgment.
  2. Educate Yourself – Learn more about the illness through reliable sources such as the World Health Organization and National Cancer Institute.
  3. Be Present – Your presence matters more than words. Simple gestures, such as holding hands or preparing meals, can make a difference.
  4. Seek Professional Help When Needed – Joining support groups like those offered by Breast Cancer Now or consulting a therapist can be beneficial for both partners.

Rocky Jaiswal’s commitment to Hina Khan during her battle against cancer exemplifies how a supportive partner can make a significant impact. Their journey highlights the power of love, resilience, and the importance of standing by each other during life’s toughest moments.
